starling murmurations in the gulf of messinia

On their way to Africa starlings from Central and Northern Europe are gathering in the Gulf of Messinia.

I was watching this amazing flight show in November 2023 over a couple of days. The birds were passing by my house again and again. Even heavy rainfall and strong winds couldn’t stop them from presenting their artistic performances. The resident buzzards, who are usually dominating the air space in the coastal area of Messini, were screaming loudly and trying to defend their hunting grounds, but there was no stopping the starlings.
